The ritual

In order, at your own pace

Our attendants prepare your skin with black soap, then comes the traditional scrub and the soap wash. It is relaxing, and your skin comes out softer and cleaner. A sauna is also available.

  1. The hot room: granite scrubbing benches and basins

    Heat

    You settle into the hot room, all marble and steam. There is a sauna too.

  2. Small bowls of black soap, ghassoul clay and dried flowers

    Black soap

    Our attendants apply savon noir, the traditional black soap that gets the skin ready for the scrub.

  3. Blue-and-white striped stools and a steel basin in the washing hall

    The scrub

    With the traditional glove (kessa), by an attendant of your own sex. It is vigorous, so say so if you’d like it gentler.

  4. Turquoise ceramic pots on a console in the massage area

    The wash

    An invigorating soap wash, or ghassoul, Morocco’s mineral clay, depending on the option you choose.

  5. Tea tray with an embroidered green cover, rosebuds and dried herbs

    Rest

    The relaxation room, a drink at the café, then back out into the city with softer, cleaner skin.

Hammam options

Prices are on the board. You choose at reception.

Three options; the first two have a weekday and a weekend price. The private hammam gives you the hammam to yourself, with bathrobe, towels and a free drink.

This is a single-sex hammam, with one side for women and one for men. Women are looked after by female attendants, men by male attendants.
